MAX 7000 系列為 Altera 第二代 MAX 架構所打造的高密度、高效能可程式邏輯裝置（PLD）。該系列採用先進 CMOS 製程技術，並以 EEPROM 為儲存基礎，提供 600 至 5,000 個可用邏輯閘、支援系統內程式燒錄（ISP）、引腳對引腳延遲最低可達 5ns，以及最高 175.4 MHz 的計數器速度。

其中，MAX 7000S 裝置在 -5、-6、-7 與 -10 等速率等級，以及 MAX 7000 / 7000E 裝置在 -5、-6、-7、-10P 和 -12P 等級，皆符合 PCI Special Interest Group（PCI SIG）所制定的 PCI 匯流排規範（版本 2.2）。詳見表 3 以了解可用的速度等級。
