PaperColor is a development board with a 4" E Ink Spectra 6 full-color e-paper display (400 × 600), built around the ESP32-S3R8 with 16MB Flash / 8MB PSRAM and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. It integrates an ES8311 audio codec, a MEMS microphone with AEC echo cancellation and a 1W speaker, plus an SHT40 temperature and humidity sensor, RTC, microSD, IR emitter, RGB LEDs and an HY2.0-4P port. With a built-in 1250mAh battery and M5PM1 power management, it suits photo frames, information displays, voice terminals and environmental monitoring displays.
PaperColor combines a full-color e-paper display, ESP32-S3, audio, sensors and a battery into a palm-sized device, ready to program with UiFlow2 or Arduino IDE out of the box. The e-paper image stays visible without power, and with low standby consumption it is ideal for content that is displayed for long periods but updated infrequently.

400 × 600 resolution, low power and high visibility; the image remains after power-off.
ESP32-S3R8 dual-core 240MHz, 16MB Flash + 8MB Octal PSRAM and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi to fetch data and update the display.
ES8311 codec and ES7210 ADC with a MEMS microphone and AEC; an AW8737A amplifier drives a 1W speaker for voice input and playback.
SHT40 temperature and humidity sensor, RX8130CE RTC, IR emitter, 2 RGB LEDs, microSD and HY2.0-4P; M5PM1 power management with a 1250mAh battery.
Download photos or artwork from the network and show them in full color.
Weather, calendar, meeting room status, price labels and other info panels.
Use the microphone and speaker for voice prompts or voice control.
Log and display data from the built-in temperature and humidity sensor.

How often can the display update?
Each full-color refresh takes about 15-30 seconds, suited to static images or periodically updated information, not video or animation.
How can I program it?
UiFlow2, Arduino IDE (M5Unified / M5GFX libraries), PlatformIO and ESP-IDF are supported, and the factory firmware source code is available.
Does it have a touch screen?
No. PaperColor is operated with 3 user buttons; the display does not support touch.
How do I turn it off?
Press the power button twice quickly to power off; press once to power on or restart.
